"Dedicated to the retentiveness of my father Ray Bachman [James Frederick Ray Bachman]. He was the son of John Benecke Bachman the grandson of John Bachman/Baughman [and] the great-grandson of Hans Ulrick Baughman/Baukman our immigrant ancestor."--foliage [2]. Hans Ulrick Baughman/Baukman was 1 of 3 brothers who "co-ordinate to family tradition...emigrated together from Deutschland, probably the Palatinate in the southwest role of the country, and landed at Philadelphia"--p. 10 in about 1739. He is probably the "...Hans Ulrich who made his mode to South Carolina, to Congrees Township in old Berkley Canton where he received a Majestic Grant of one hundred acres on September 16, 1739"--p. ten.
James Frederick Ray Bachman (Ray) was born 25 November 1862 at Evergreen, Washington Canton, Texas. He married Nancy Emily Lumina (Minnie) Dumas on 8 June 1904. Ray died 17 May 1949 in Brownwood, Texas and was buried Weatherford, Texas. Descendants lived in Texas, South Carolina Mississippi, Arkansas and elsewhere.

Guide for research of Bachman & Emerick families of Seneca County, New York and Thompson of Yates Canton, New York
George Backman (1750-1820) was born in Pennsylvania. He married Polly Segurfoos in 1772. They lived in Cumerland County, Pennsylvania by 1774 and later acquired land in Seneca County, New York in 1806. Descendants lived in New York, Michigan, Oregon, Washington, and elsewhere. John Emerick (1774-1860) was built-in in Pennsylvania and married Elizabeth Hoover (1786-1856). They later moved to Seneca Canton, New York from Northumberland Canton, Pennsylvania. John Thompson (1798-1861), son of Edward Thompson and Ann Groves, was born in Yorkshire, England and immigrated to America in 1824. Ancestry is traced to Thompson family of Osmotherly, Yorkshire, England. John married Ann Elenor Groves (1807-1873) and later died in Yates County, New York.

Family history and genealogical information virtually the beginnings of George Dwight Benson (built-in ca. 1892) and Jeanne C. Smith. George was a descendant of Silas Benson (born ca. 1796 in Cordington, Ohio) and Sophia Fuller. Jeanne was a descendant of John Viet Schmidt (or Smith) and Christiana Koehler who both lived in Germany during the early 1800s. George Dwight Benson married Jeanne C. Smith ca. 1914. They lived in Michigan and were the parents of three known children. Ancestors came from Michigan, Ohio and Germany. Descendants lived primarly in Michigan.

History of the Oesterling family unit originally of Hesse Darmstadt, Frg. Descendants of John Oesterling (1796-1865) and Elizabeth Ripper (1797-1871), who came to Peak Twp., Butler Co., Pa. in 1831 with their four children. Four more than children were built-in to them in Pennsylvania. John Oesterling had two brothers, Peter (1797-1876) and Leonard (1802-1872), who too immigrated to America. Peter married Marie Elise Felger and they emigrated in 1851 and settled in Zelienople, Pa. Leonard married Johanne Friederika Werner and they emigrated in 1831 settling in Zelienople District, Butler Co., Pa. Descendants live in Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia and elsewhere.
